      Asking Sky to Manually Configure My Line

      Ten days ago I posted a thread re: line speed on my recent upgrade to unlimited package Should I be getting better speeds? (the old chestnut) :) and was advised by members that I should get my line manually configured.

      Well, I've spoken to a guy, presumably in Northern Ireland judging by the accent, and he said he would see what could be done. After an hour he rang back and said that any change would destabilise my line so nothing could be changed. I'm not a techie but, from what I've read on Skyuser, there could be room for improvement as my noise margin is a bit high. My latest stats follow and BTW, I've had it plugged into the test socket in the past and the stats remain the same.

      Yes, you're being fobbed off. You should get 12Mbps-ish once configured properly

      yeah as iwasnotthenemy has said, your line can handle more, the router aims for a NM of 7. with a Nm of 16 your line can handle more, ring back up and hope you get someone useful, just tell if your line becomes unstable you will ring back up and ask them to lower the cap.

      Out of curiosity, do you recall this agent's name?

      Unless the line is erroring heavily (doubtful) then there's no reason why the line can't be uncapped. Ring back up.
