      Exclamation Internet Connection Dropping

      Hey guys!

Basically, I'm looking to buy some Devolo Homeplugs as my Xbox is receiving a terrible wireless connection considering where it is in conjunction with the router.
However, before I spend around 100 on a good set, I'd like to just ask if someone can provide some explanation as to why my connection is dropping out.

I'll be honest, it's not a daily occurrence, but it does happen a good 4-5 times a week, tending to be around the evenings. IOne thing is that it almost always happens when all of us (4 family members) are using the internet at the same time wirelessly. Unfortunately I cannot access the master plug due to it being behind a unit, however I have these stats using the Sky Tool.

Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

      Re: Internet Connection Dropping

Is it a wireless drop-out or an ADSL sync drop-out?
If it's wireless then try changing the channel on the router.
If it's ADSL then first homeplugs wont help and second you'll need to get behind that unit and into the test socket with the router to check if the problem is resolved and if not report it as a line fault.

ADSL, the light goes amber for say 60 seconds.
And the Homeplugs are to help with the fact that I recieve poor connection with my Xbox via wireless, it's not related to this problem. I just don't want to spend a lod on them if I need a new router at all

      Re: Internet Connection Dropping

As I said before if it's ADSL then you need to get into the test socket, theres no way of establishing the problem until you test there.

      Re: Internet Connection Dropping

Ideally post up your stats and leave it in the test socket for 24-48 hours to see if the problem(s) have gone away. If they havent then it's most likely to be a line fault.
