Ok, So I get what you're saying now (sort of)

I've got to phone Sky and ask for my download speed Cap to be raised.
They will then raise my download speed cap
I can try my internet and download speeds then in the tester socket
If there is any difference I will post on here and thank all of you and buy a faceplate from run-it-direct or that other place.

If there is no difference then what else could it be?

Good, that confirms that you will benefit from fitting a filtered faceplate.

I should have asked before, but can you check that you cannot get a dial tone at any of the other extensions in your house when the faceplate is removed? If the faceplate is still off, go round with a phone and plug it into each socket and see if there is a dial tone.

Now the router is synced up it requires the SnR to drop to near 0 to drop the connection - now the majority of phone lines wont drop by that much and the customer will have a perfectly fine stable connection. Even if it does drop by that much the router will resync at a lower speed to 7db again and will be perfectly stable. You lindley have a fault on your line with an SnR fluctuating far too much and if you left your router to sync up at a lower speed automatically your line quality will go back to where it was. Sky never used to cap lines when it was introduced the capping was brought in because there are people out there with bad extension wiring/bad phone lines causing lots of snr fluctuation and instability.
Now i've explained it to you can we please keep this thread on topic to the posters issue and deal with yours in your thread?
Actually capping was brought in due to Sky not using Seamless Rate Adaption

Ok, I will check the dial tones later because I'm expecting a phone call from a guy coming to fix my Conservatory. My house is like a disaster area.
