Re: Very Annoying, Connection Dropping off and slow

Remove your external IP address, then explain the setup between router and line, your speed isn't very good for your atenuation so it may be that something is not plugged in correctly.
Are you plugged directly onto your main/ master socket with a filter? Do you have a test socket? Any extension sockets on the line or extension leads in use?

Re: Very Annoying, Connection Dropping off and slow

      hello thanks for the response.
      i have no extension sockets.
my set up is as follows
Microfilter plugged into the master socket.
a wire plugged into the telephone and then into the microfilter
another wire going from the router to the microfilter. (this wire is about 10 meters long. not the original supplied by sky.) the router is the white neatgear one. the lights on the router are
power- green, wireless- flashing green, internet sign- green.
there is a test socket behind the mastersocket.

That is how far you live in a direct line, cables don't go in straight lines, they follow the roads and go into the Green cabinets, a cable then goes from the green cabinet to your house.(usually)

      ryan_93:

Do away with the DSL extension and use the one Sky supplied and then get a longer Ethernet cable. this should stop the drops outs and also help with the speed (check your stats before and after)

Re: Very Annoying, Connection Dropping off and slow

You really need to post some stats from the test socket as with that attenuation you should be easily hitting 10mb+ and you would appear to have noise issues slowing you down.
