      its capped at 6.5 meg

      All you need to do when ringing is say that you have sorted out your internal wiring and would like your speed increasing as you now have noise margin in reserve to do this.
      Remember to always call when the router is in the test socket!

      I think I should point out that having the speed adjusted in the Test socket today will probably mean that the speed will drop again when returned to its normal position. In the evening when the line gets noisy it is going to drop again and you will end up with your original stats in post 1.

      Having the cap lifted is not going to cure your drop outs. There is a fault, either with the router or with your wiring. Fitting and using a filtered faceplate will isolate your internal wiring, which is probably the source of the problem.
