It looks like you have isolated your problem. It could be, as you suggest straight interference between the aerial and the cable or it may be the PSU in your TV is pushing 'dirty' current back into the power circuit which is effecting the router. I have seen this happen with PCs so I suppose it could happen with a TV. The only way to tell for sure would be to try another TV using the same aerial. If it still happens then its the TV cable, so you will have to find another route for it and/or renew it. If it doesn't, you will have to get another TV.

      Re: Constant De-syncing

Its definitely the aerial, i threw the aerial cable out of my room and turned the tv on, no difference to the NM, but once i put the aerial back as it was, my internet dropped and it synced at 896 again. as soon as i unplug the aerial from the tv, the NM goes back up.

Tbh i wish it was the tv since im getting a new already.... Not sure my gf is going to be happy about not been able to watch tv, i guess ill have to move my room about.

Well the BT open reach engineer came anyway, tested it, perfectly fine, i told him about the aerial etc.

One thing i did ask him about was the fibre in my area, which he said they are fitting it now
Shouldn't be too long before its activated in my area then

You could try using a double shielded cable instead of the old analogue type you will have fitted. If you were to get a new digital TV it would probably need to be replaced any way.

Hmm, ill pick one up on friday when i get paid. As its already connected to a splitter box, so should only need a 5-10m cable to go from there to my room

You know best place to get them? (cheap)

For a small amount, B & Q is probably as good as any.

Hmm, a 5m should be enough. Anyway did a search on B & Q's site, can't seem to find them, what would they be called? (i just searched for antenna cable)

i found some digital tv/satelite cables but they are like 20 and its for 25 metres but thats it. Any other ideas?

      found this site;
      BSKYB Approved Satellite Cable

That cable should do, lets me pick the colour(lol) and the exact metre length, including PP and tax its 6.50, so not too bad, ill order that for now.

      Re: Constant De-syncing

okay, i replaced the aerial cable(with the one linked above), i also wired it to a different splitter, for 5 minutes or so, there was only a tiny drop in NM, from about 7.4 to 7, after this 5 minutes it dropped to 0 and the interent re-synced at 1meg, 5-10 minutes later, it desynced again to 900kbps

Ive tried moving the tv as far away as possible from my pc, but to no avail. ive rang my sister and goin to borrow a small tv just to see if the tv is causing it.

if not i have no idea wha to do next, i don't think buying a better shielded ethernet cable would make much difference (?)

      Re: Constant De-syncing

Does unplugging the TV from the mains solve the issue? There was a story a while back that a TV was knocking out a whole street as it had a dodgy power supply...
