      Re: Constant De-syncing

Engineer coming out tomorrow between 8 and 1. He said it could either be your setup, which he said it couldn't be because it was right, or a line fault.

Also it de-synced while he was on the phone, so he had a mess about to see if he could see why it couldn't sync back up/and if he could determine why it de-synced, he said it could be because i was on phone, but it couldn't be that because ive left the phone completely unplugged for days before now.

      stats now

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2047 kbps 414 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 38.2 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 12.0 db

Hes changed my settings :| No idea why he changed my upload.

      Re: Constant De-syncing

Anyone know why my upstream line attenuation has changed, the CST guy changed some settings but why would that change the attenuation?

(yes its still in the test socket)

      Re: Constant De-syncing

He appears to have changed your line from G.DMT to ADSL2+ and made a mess of it. I doubt if this will cure the drop outs, more likely to make them worse. Are you sure you were through to CST and not someone in Tier 1 with an L plate on their head?

      Re: Constant De-syncing

Definitely CST, i got put straight through because i had a ticket from a month ago, the tier 1 staff said it was open, but the CST guy said it was closed 2 weeks ago, but he carried on anyway and changed some stuff while it was de-synced. So far my sync speeds are worse

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 840 kbps 414 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.5 db 38.2 db
Noise Margin 7.0 db 13.0 db

So im going to have to ring up and get them to put me back to G.DMT, as already the internet has de-synced twice and now its synced at that :|

      Re: Constant De-syncing

      line capped at 8meg down....

He didn't change it to Adsl2+, it was on g.dmt and still is (apparently)

      (while on phone)
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2464 kbps 128 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 8.1 db 7.0 db

(after phone had been put down)
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2464 kbps 128 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 7.0 db

Because the line is capped at 8 meg when it can only handle 2.5-3meg is causing a lot of problems, apparently my upload is capped at 512 but as you can see, its far slower, this is going to be one game-less boring day.

Apparently this is done to make any issues clearer to the engineer. Ive also changed the engineer appointment from morning to afternoon as i have a lot more problems during the afternoon, and as far as im aware, the internet is perfect during the morning.

Hopefully tomorrow will be the end of my problems.

Btw i did ask him to change it to 2.5meg down and 512 up, and he did, then he explained the above situation so i asked him to change it back to 8meg if that might help the engineer.

p.s i hate tier 1 staff, he annoyed me to hell in 2 minutes. Even when i got put through to the CST guy the tier 1 staff was still talking.

It is now, but it wasn't before. I think you are being given the old fob off to be honest.

I dont really see there being much point in phoning sky constantly until BT get the line fault sorted. Your just wasting money on phone calls until the fault is fixed

Twice isn't constantly. And like i said, an engineer has already been out at end of last month, he checked the exchange and the line from here, i don't think he checked the junction outside though. And i had to ring the second time regardless of the internet connection to change the engineer appointment.

      Re: Constant De-syncing

Ive been using routerstats for a couple of hours now, i think it was simon who suggested using it to another member. Here is a Screenshot of it.

As you can see it was stable all morning up until one point, all morning it was synced at 2500kbps, after the drop, it synced at 896, since the NM was high, i tried resetting the router, it still synced at 896 with a high NM. it then de-synced again.

      Anyone understand this?

      Infact, LMAO.

At the point of the first de-sync, my gf had come back and turned the TV on, which is analogue, this tv is next to my pc, and the aerial cable runs next to the ethernet cable, however the router is downstairs. no where near the aerial cable.

When my gf just left a minute ago, she turned the tv off, instantly my NM rose to 20+

in the middle of writing this, i turned the tv back on, and as you can see, it dropped straight back down.

the question is my ethernet cable picking up interference from the aerial cable and somehow screwing the router up? even though its no where near the tv or aerial cable?

Ive confirmed its definitely when i turn the tv on, tried it multiple times.
