10 day thing - what if router gets knocked off?

Basically they say to leave the router running for the 10 day period...what happens if someone accidently turns it off buy triping up a wire and the plug popping out?

Someone on Aria forums told me that if you turn it off even once it will give you lower than your max speeds...is that true? If so that is a MASSIVE flaw in the service.

Its not true, turning the router off once or twice during the training period will make no difference. Even if it did, it is easily fixed by getting a manual configuration. Don't be worried by scaremongers.

Re: 10 day thing - what if router gets knocked off?

Thanks mate, i was thinking it was a bit odd since it would be impossible for a lot of people to have it on constantly for 10 days all manners of things could happen in that time.

Although i hear 3-4mb connection is the standard for the first day is that true?

Start speed is 4mb if your line can get it and then up from there.

I did the speed test website and it shows it as 3.5 so not bad for now.

Post your router stats and we can give a good indication on what you should end up with.

We don't have one, the old school original bt box, getting a newer one fitted in a couple days.

Re: 10 day thing - what if router gets knocked off?

That's a pity. In the mean time, if you have extensions you could try removing the ring wire from terminal 3 on the faceplate of the master socket. This is not required when using filters and can cause problems with broadband. Make sure everything plugged into the phone line runs through a filter. This includes especially the sky digi boxes.
