Re: 10 day thing - what if router gets knocked off?

i know how you feel about the upto 20mb thing, i get 3.3 now, i live around 4k form the exchange, the lines are all up in the air, my exchange is older then christ, i get what i get and iam gratefull for it, they do state when you order, all over there website that you can get upto whatever, and its all depends on distance, line quality and internal wiring.

You may find that when the new faceplate is installed you get a much better speed, you might get no increase what so ever..

yes annoying paying for an upto service and not getting the max, but i pay the same as you and get 3.3 iam happy with that (come december i will be on FTTC and getting *UPTO* 40 mb), the one thing i like is the unlimited downloads with sky.

back to previous comment about "I don't honestly care if your on it for what. I'm on it for an advertised speed of up to 20mb which is insane if they can't actually provide it, i don't even get 10mb now when they said i will get at least 10.

I don't count myself lucky, i don't get what i pay for. Simple as that. "

they can provide the full 20 mb if you live right on the doorstep of the exchange, are plugged into the test socket or adsl filter plate, and have good internal and external wiring.

      good luck getting more speed.

No liam, you came here to insult.

Koni, the upto 40 meg service will depend how far you live from the cabinet, not from the exchange, if your cabinet is close to you, you will actually receive the full 40meg.

I know my virgin media cabinet is RIGHT outside my house[probably 15 metres away](which meant i got the full 10meg on the 10meg package), however the bt cabinet is maybe 600metres away if not more. Although even at that range, my speed will be drastically increased by FTTC. However from what i read, they will be doing a lot of FTTP, so i guess it depends if your lucky or not.

Re: 10 day thing - what if router gets knocked off?

where we used to live we got 20mb from virgin, and 8mb from sky, it was a right sod moving and getting much lower speeds lol

but been here 2.5 years now and were used to the speed, but bring on FTTC !!! the only thing iam not looking forward to is the download usage caps, but who knows in 10 years time perhaps we will have have FTTC or FTTP with unlimited downloads for the same price as we pay now..

i have three cabinets all around 200 - 500 mtrs from our house, so we should get the full 40, bring it on !!! lol can you tell iam happy ?
