      Re: What is this rubbish?

Yeah I tried checking before to see if they were planning on unbundling it soon but the page wouldn't load. But my mum just told me that Sky told her about a month ago that they were planning on doing it within 4 to 5 months.

Just running a speed test now.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3628 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
      Additional Information:
      Your DSL Connection Rate :4768 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4000 Kbps

Will do another in an hour or two.

Hi The Bt speed tests that is what I have done to show sky how bad the throttling was Steve's Sky Connect speedtest blog Then Sky agreed that the throttling was happening there has been a lot that have left saying that the connect package was unusable from 5pm till Midnight, Weekends,School Holidays, Public Holidays. The throttling was happening at any time Day and Night. If you or your dads thinking of changing Internet Service Provider TalkTalk you have to take there Telephone line. The most important is you have to get a good deal. Re: What is this rubbish?

My dad rang sky and they said that it was not their problem it was something to do with the BT line, have they just fogged him off with a load of crap? They said even if we did change ISP's it wouldn't make any difference because it would still be on the same BT line.

      Re: What is this rubbish?

He has been fobbed off. He needs to just stick to his guns, tell them that the service is not of useable quality and that he want's his MAC code with 5 days as per the OFCOM guidlines and that he will not consider paying to leave the contract as Sky has breached it.

Don't bother doing anything they ask re tests and fault finding, tell them that you just want your MAC code and thats an end to it.

The will not argue with this, many have left for exactly the same reasons without a penalty. Get him to ring again tonight.

Right, MAC code... what is that. I have some experience with computers and i'm not sure but he is completely clueless with them so we have no chance.

Can you explain why it has nothing to do with BT because he now is certain it's BT's fault?

In your case that is rubbish. Sky wont pay for the extra bandwidth they require so BT quite rightly force them to slow down during the peak period.

Give Talk Talk a ring, they started badly but have gradually improved their service. TalkTalk received 5 stars and the Best Budget Buy award in a recent Computer Shopper review, which was based on actual users. O2 Premium got the top award, but you don't have the option of joining them unfortunately.

      Re: What is this rubbish?

Right, could somebody please explain why it can't be BT's fault so I can explain it to my dad.

And then I please have a step by step guide of what to say to Sky to get them to cancel the contract and then what I have to do, thanks

And does anybody know how much the most basic Sky TV package costs?
