      Line Noise issue

Hi since 6 August I have had a loud niose on my line I have reportered this to sky and they sent an engineer out on tuesday 10th. he addmitted there is a noise which might be caused by the broadband. he said I will need to contact sky for a broadband engineer to visit which they did on thursday 12th . The broadband engineer did a test and replaced the socket and went to the cabinet at the end of my road where he did some cleaning up. So it has been fine for a couple of days but today its back again and this noise effects the speed of my broadband. I was getting 12701 down and 1048 up now im getting

If you have extensions, try the test socket and post stats from there.

Your stats have changed considerably, are your other sockets dead when you are in the test socket and have you changed the filter in use?

      Re: Line Noise issue

I have tried two different microfilters. I have tried just the phone in the test socket and I still get the same problem. This has only started happening since BT openreach have been digging up the road in my street

      Hi kevmufc83 - Can I ask:

      1. Do you pay Sky for your line rental? Was it difficult to get Sky to send an engineer? Was it actually a Sky engineer or a BT engineer?

      2. Is the noice actually audible or is it only detectible by the router stats?

Sorry about my asking questions rather than trying to help you get a solution. I have a problem myself that may be caused by noise, but thre is no audible noise.

      cheers

      Re: Line Noise issue

Hi reverend no problem. I do pay my line rental to sky. it was not difficult for me to get an engineer out it was a bt engineer.

the noise is audible and can be very loud makeing it imposible to hear the other people on the other end.

      may speed has dropped again

      Re: Line Noise issue

Phone up sky and report it as noise on the line making voice calls almost impossible, do not mention broadband.

Although it sounds like BT are doing something anyways if they are digging up the road.
