Where would this be? Most reviews rate Sky LLU fairly highly with the exception of customer support. You are on Connect, which bears no resemblance to Sky's LLU service.

Forget the name. It was some site that reviewed a lot of ISPs, not long after Sky introduced 20 meg.

      Edit: It was user rated

Edit: Btw what do people mean when they say it depends on the distance bewteen you and the exchange? What about the connection between the exchange and the main ISP servers? Why is it never that link? Lots of people live far away from their ISP, too. But It's always your line to the exchange. Is that line between the exchange and the ISP special or something? If so, then why not install this special line at our housees all the way to the exchange? Line problems solved

So do you not mean it depends on the distance bewteen you and the ISP? Makes more sense

No it's always down to the last leg of the connection from the exchange to your home.
The link between you and your exchange is mainly copper, this is the lossy part of the connection, exchange to ISP is often fibre and suffers little to no loss. Why not install fibre to the house? It costs a hell of a lot of money, BT are moving to fibre to the cabinet etc but it is a slow process and will take a long time before everyone has fibre to their homes.... unless they move to cable (Virgin Media).

That must be quite some time ago then so is not really relavant now. As long as you are not on Sky Connect then I would consider pound for pound Sky to be one of the best broadbans suppliers out there.

Call me an idiot but the lines beyond my exchange look identical to the line that's connected to my house phone box. It's greyish and flexible. My exchange is about a mile outside my home town.

Yeah I've heard about fibre and those companies will have new things that can go wrong invented in time for its commercial use.

Fibre optic cable is usually underground and unseen, but it can be enclosed in covering very similar to metal cable and strung from poles. You would not know the difference unless you took it apart.

The telephone backbone, that part which criss crosses the country is fibre optic cable or wireless(micro wave) and is all digital. The local loop, that part from your house to the exchange is twisted pair metal wire, usually copper, but sometimes aluminium and is all analogue.
