Both the ip address and web address are unreachable by ping or tracert. Strange.

Have a look in your router log, see if there are any clues there.

Open the Task Manager and check what processes are active when the warning appears. There will be several for Svhost, but you may be able to narrow it down.

      Re: Svchost communicate with bb.sky.com

I'm a fairly new Sky customer and I've noticed this strange accessing to various bb.sky.com addresses. After about a week of trying to track down the cause, I've discovered that these IP addresses are actually also registered in DNS as download.windowsupdate.com and are part of the windowsupdate network.

They appear in reverse DNS lookups as bb.sky.com because they're hosted by Sky. They're running AkamaiGHost software on ports 80 and 443. So far I've only observed the IP address range 90.223.216.xxx being accessed in this way, although there's also occasionally access to 90.223.246.xxx which is described in the reverse DNS results as a web cache.

I believe the correct thing to do is to allow svchost.exe to access ports 80 and 443 for these two IP ranges (assuming you want windows update to work!). If you change ISPs at any point, of course you'll need to change these IP ranges to whatever they use.

I'm sorry this reply is coming so long after your original posting, but I couldn't find any other answers on the internet, so I'm posting this in case it's of use to anyone else!
