Were those results with the sky router? Would you have a spare (short) dsl cable lying around that you could swap over?

Just tried a different DSL cable ( small headed , from microfilter - router?) getting similar results. Yeah they were on the sky moden sagem f@st, however i also tried a echolife Wan2 router and got similar results again , i don't think its an internal problem.

Sounds like you'd be right. Next step would be to call sky and have them look at it. Some advice - when you get through, tier 1 will most probably tell you enter 'netstat' in cmd. Key thing is if you suggest there are over 10 entries, they will fob you off, otherwise they will pass you to the customer solutions team (cst). Sounds like someone will maybe have to look at it with PuTTY, something not that many agents have access to.

Its best if you use a BT filter or if you can get an iplate fitted to your test socket. Once you fit the iplate it takes about 24 to 48 hours before you can see an improvement in connection. You need to get the iplated from BT.

How on earth can you think that's down to a faulty card at the exchange. You really don't know what your talking about buddy

Are you sure about that then???

This from a man who suggests an i-plate instead of a filtered faceplate which is much better at isolating any problems with internal wiring (not that this is the problem).

Hi , i don't know what it was but it seems to have been resolved now. I guess it was a fault at the exchange that has now been fixed.

      Rubbish

      More rubbish.
We seem to be attracting some know-it-all Virgin users recently. Even if they do work with Sky on Tier 2, it looks like they could do with some more training. He may not be aware that some on here work with the Sky CST and are more knowledgeable than him on broadband matters.

You don't make it clear what was done in Safe Mode. All of it or just the last test?

As you say, probably a fault at the exchange, which has been fixed. Contrary to what some people say, exchange faults can cause low throughput.

      Ignore my last question.
