Re: Speed drop after Line Testing

There are many possible reasons. Extensions seldom perform as well as the Test socket, which isolates all the internal wiring in the house. Poor quality wiring, running parallel to power cables additional joints not always well made, are some but not all the reasons.

There is some problem with your external line which is causing 'noise' and thus reducing your speed. There is not a lot you can do about it unless you have obvious noise on your voice line. Have a look from your master socket back to the pole and see if you can spot anything wrong. Maybe the cable rubbing on a tree or wall, things like that. If you have another junction box before the master socket, have a look inside it and make sure the screws are tight and clean.

      Update on my connection...

I found that when the sky box was connected to the master socket the throughput was severely affected.

      Why would this be?

Is it connected via an ADSL filter? the filter MUST be the FIRST thing connected to the socket, the Sky receiver and phone then connect to that.
