      Broadband outage (LCFOM?)

      Hi all,

Anybody know if there is a problem with broadband in the Formby area tonight please? We've had no connection for the last 7 hours. Router lights are on but in the stats page it just says ADSL Training all the time, and there are no noise or line attenuation figures

Could be a faulty filter or a line fault, try a new filter in the BT test socket connected with the short grey adsl cable to the sky router and see if you get a connection. If you do either one of the filters on your extensions is faulty or theres some internal wiring issues dropping your connection. If however you still cant get connected you'll have to get onto SKY and report it as a line fault - try a spare router if you can before agreeing to purchase one from them!

      Re: Broadband outage (LCFOM?)

Sorry guys been busy trying to track the problem down, it was a bad connection in the master socket. We had a BT engineer out last year to try and detect some external line noise, and whilst at out house he had inserted some new small cable inside the master socket as it made it easier for him to test connections, anyway he had used some scotch lock type things to join 2 pairs of wires together which links to an extension, and it was one of the joints inside a connector that had failed. This cut off the extension and router too. I would have detected the problem much earlier had there been a phone in the extension, but the only thing connected to this extension was the router and I stupidly just discounted the cable joints that connect to that

Anyway all is well again now. Thanks for taking the time to respond guys, much appreciated
