      Very Intermittent Connection?

      Firstly forgive me if this has already been solved elsewhere, ive tried searching the forums and FAQ's and havent had much luck.

      I haven't had sky connect long (infact its still in the 10 day testing period which is what this message is about) and i know the connection can be intermittent but should it be disconnecting every time i am trying to use the internet? e.g. ill be on ebay and next moment i have been referred to the router page. is this normal? did it happen when you had your router installed? i dont think its anything to do with the set up because the first day it worked fine. I know i should be patient and wait for the 10 days to pass but i work away at sea and my family arent very technical.

      Long story short, is this how your connection was durign the first 10 days and if not what could be the possible cause?

      Post your router stats.

      When you disconnect, does the internet light on the router start flashing?

      Do you have ADSL filters in all the BT sockets in the house as the very FIRST thing in them?

      Have you tried a ethernet (if you are using wireless)??

      (i think thats what you mean lol)

      when it disconnects the fourth light on the sagem router starts flashing orange and it often doesnt find a connection again without much persuasion. and the BT engineer hooked up the phone without the microfilters but asides from that its been the first thing. and currently its connected to my computer via ethernet, but when im not using my computer its connected wirelessly to my laptop (which disconnects frequently as well) and the same as with my PS3.

      It seems like the line has to much passing through it and cuts off but its a bit much to think that ebay or even google would make it do this, and it does it every time i try to use it (sometimes after a minute sometimes after 5 minutes)

      How many sockets are there on your line and is your sky tv still plugged into the line somewhere? Anything connected to the line must go through a filter (not just the ADSL router).
      During the first 10 days it can be intermittent but your line should hold a stable 8Mb with an attenuation like that.

      the broadband and phone line are connected by micro filter, and i cannot be certain but i think the sky engineer actually attached the wiring directly to the box because there is wiring coming from the sky+ box to the line

      Make sure the Sky tc line goes into a filter, if not it will impact line stability. You may have what looks like a double socket with a wire leading round to your sky tv, this is just a splitter and not a filter and should go into the telephone side of the microfilter.

      The sky tv appears to be plugged in to a line like adapter but not with a telephone socket? its like a blue and white wire attached in the bottom?

      i've worked out that the internet disconnects roughly every 7 minutes if this is in anyway helpful ?

      i've reassessed my microfilters etc and ive seen a very nice change the speed has gone from under 1mb to 6mb but its still logging out after 7 minutes, should i just wait till the 10 days are up see if its the same or is there something still obviously wrong?

      There is still something wrong.

      The speed may not have changed, it may just be a to do with the Sky Connect traffic shaping/capacity issue. Some people see speeds go from 8mb down to less than half between 4pm and midnight (peak hours).

      Do you have a TEST socket? if so try that, if not can you post a couple of pictures of the phone socket you are connected too? I think the Sky has been connected as an extension, can you plug an ADSL filter into the bit Sky fitted and then the Sky into the phone side of that?
