      Re: Very Intermittent Connection?

i looked at the sky connection and unplugged the sky tv and plugged the microfilter directly into the phone socket and the broadband in after that, and i noticed a huge change in speed, then i changed it back and the speed went back under 1mb but i cant understand why it would disconnect every 7 minutes exactly, its almost like its been programmed to do so

Edit: Could over heating cause a disconnection? wouldnt it cause the router to switch off? (which it isnt doing)

Why did you change it back? You have been advised that the filter must be plugged in first, if you don't do that you are going to have problems.

I assume that you have received the usual instruction from Sky to leave your router plugged in and powered up during the training period. In the case of Connect, this is incorrect. You should power cycle your router once or twice a day to force a resync with the exchange. Switch off the power for a minute then switch on again. You should be syncing at the maximum possible for your connection type, 8128kbps, resyncing should achieve this.

It is possible you have a faulty router or you are suffering from severe REIN interference, only time will tell.

      Re: Very Intermittent Connection?

I changed back to ensure that i had found it to be the problem and not that it had just changed on its own accord like smithy had suggested.

i think its fixed now anyway, there has been no disconnections in an hour of browsing, admittedly i havent tried it on the ps3 or on my laptop yet.

      Re: Very Intermittent Connection?

Don't worry, your speeds will drop like a stone after 5pm tonight. Don't confuse this with a problem to do with the router it is the nature of Sky Connect, one of the very worst BB packages in the UK.

My advice would be to leave now and either go to a LLU supplier if youhave any in your exchange or get Plusnet.
