Unhappy Speeds not as router states

Hello, hopefully you guys can help me out.

My sagem router will list my downstream at around 8128kbps when i log on first thing in the morning and run the sky user speed test it will list around 7000kbps which is fine.

Gaming, streaming, downloads etc will all work fine some variance to be expected with those speed tests however; during the course of the day my connection will gradually degrade to the point where i get constant disconnects and lag in games with poor streaming performance. Strange thing is the router will always list its 8128kbps speed with the same noise margin but running the skyusers speed test it will show (as of posting this) 2224kbps.

Same thing happens everyday, router says 8128kbps with the same noise margin, but speed tests and in-game performance shows it gradually degrades to the point where its nearly unusable.

I am connected directly to the master socket, test socket gives same results.

      Stats are:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 27433 36136 0 0 0 0:45:16
      LAN 45531 36665 0 0 222 0:46:14
      WLAN 0 0 0 0 0 0:45:47
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 7.0 db 5.0 db
Noise Margin 19.5 db 27.0 db

      Many thanks.

Your on SKY connect which is throttled at peak time, only solution is to move ISP's as SKY connect is simply a BT rebadged product.

Sky are currently buying more capacity and you should see an improvement by the end of Summer (unless you live near to Livingston and one other area that I can't remember which will be done in Autumn).

P.S. You didn't by any chance call into sky earlier today about the issue, did you?

Re: Speeds not as router states

Even on the Sky system my router syncs at 22011 kb/s downstream. Most I have seen on a speedtest is shown below. This is at this time when I doubt there are capacity problems due to overuse I'm not all that disappointed though, 11mb/s isn't too bad. P. S. Wireless connection is reported to be 54mb/s so the bottleneck isn't there. I suppose it could be my router could do with a power cycle but daren't do that incase sky is still testing my line
      Currently getting:
      DownStream Connection Speed 20598
      UpStream Connection Speed 1150

      @anewman

start your own post, you're not on Connect and it's a different issue...although to see 22Mbps when the maximum Sky offer is 20Mbps wuld be interesting

      @ OP

No one at Sky can uncap your line, unless it's all changed since I left last year

From what I've been told, Sky aren't buying more bandwidth, despite being horribly oversubscribed. You've apparantly put a new system in place to deal with throttling but all you seem to have done is make it drop packets for pretty much everything but HTTP and SSL.
