      Sync Speed

      Hi all,

How long does Sky 'train' your line? I've had my Sky broadband in since Monday, and have been messing about with changing the router out etc (changed to an unlocked/reflashed Sky/Sagem router) but my speed's never gone over 3mbps - currently 2176kbps even though I have Sky unlimited 20mbps and live just 250 metres from my exchange. My router stats look good:

      Downstream Upstream
      SNR Margin (dB): 4.8 8.0
      Attenuation (dB): 18.0 9.0
      Output Power (dBm): 12.3 19.8
      Attainable Rate (Kbps): 2496 568
      Rate (Kbps): 2176 416

But it just won't sync very high. Is there any way to restart the training process and I'll leave the modem alone (even put their original one back in?).

      Cheers,
      Steve

      Re: Sync Speed

Just noticed on the 'my sky' site:

      Your Connection Details

      Check back here for updates.

Line testing is not currently in progress.
ah and my SNR Margin of only 4.8 is actually rubbish! Will replace the filter tonight.

      Re: Sync Speed

After a reboot (I'm not at home right now) it's down to ~3dB!

I'd strongly suggest you use the supplied Sky router, recheck your filters and leave the thing switched on for 10 days.

This, additionally your SNR is horrendous for the attenuation and speed, plug into the test socket and see if it improves.
