      severe speed problem

Ive had my sky package for 9 days now, got a serious problem, sky are sending me speeds of 3680 download and 448 upload or 3.6mb download and 448kb upload. However, and I kid you not, I have a download speed on my computer right now, with no other computer using the router, and no applications open, and nothing in the resource monitor showing network usage, a speed of 41kbps, I cant even load speedtest.net to check the speed, had to use the bt speedtest. I have no idea wot is literally destroying my internet.

      Re: severe speed problem

That'll possibly be traffic shaping although I didnt think it was that bad, what does the BT speedtester say regarding your line profile and acceptable speed?

Was the speed test via ethernet or wireless?

      Re: severe speed problem

I use netgear XE104 plugs, so it was ethernet, so basically theyre throttling my connection, I was told quite clearly over the phone when I started this plan that I would not get slowed down during peak times, so theyve lied, Ill give sky a call tommorow and get them to fix it, or else Im off back to orange, lol shortest broadband plan Ive ever had, 10 days.

      Re: severe speed problem

Try running a bt speedtest after 12am, in the early hours if possible. If it still gives you those kind of results, then it's not just throttling - something else is wrong. Of course, if the download shoots up then it confirms it is throttling and leaving would definitely be the best option.
