Depends on your setup, first thing is first you need to find where the BT line comes in it may come into a junction box or straight into the old style master socket (has a capacitor on the back of it). If it comes into a junction box you need to remove this box and replace it with an NTE5 and if it comes into a master socket then you replace the master socket with an NTE5, it's pretty simple!

Very often the junction box is placed in an inconvenient position, on a skirting board, door or window frame where it is not convenient to have a socket. If this is the case, just check that the connections are not corroded and are tight and replace the first socket on the line with an NTE5. These can be obtained from ebay quite cheaply - bt nte5 items - Get great deals on Mobile Home Phones, Computing items on eBay UK!

If you have extensions then you will benefit by fitting and using a filtered faceplate.
