Re: Changed Line rental from BT to Sky. PROBLEMS!!

      Success!!

Had a visit from the engineer who changed the socket and the face plate and following a call to Sky (was put straight through to CST after explaining the problem) my line speed was tinkered with and my router is now showing:

Connection Speed 1454 kbps 414 kbps
Line Attenuation 70.5 db 45.3 db
Noise Margin 8.1 db 9.5 db

Due to the distance from the exchange and the attenuation of over 70, this is the best they could manage. I can live with this for now. The engineer also gave some hope when he explained the area should in the next 3 yrs be going to fibre optics from the exchange.

Thanks for all the replies on this thread, you've been a great help when it came to talking to the Sky customer help people.

To be honest I don't think changing the socket made any difference. All it did was get Sky to extract the digit and configure the line properly. In my opinion they paid for calling out BTO for nothing, the previous stats you posted showed your line was quite capable of a substantial increase.
