    Sagem Speed Fluctuations

This is a discussion on Sagem Speed Fluctuations within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; OK, downloaded the software and have had some interesting graphs already. Any thoughts to those in the know?...

      Re: Sagem Speed Fluctuations

Is this still from the test socket?
If so then your having sharp drops in noise repeatedly which probably indicate a line fault and you'll need to get sky to book you an openreach engineer to check it out.
If it isnt from the test socket then would you please try the same again in the test socket, if you get no issues from there then you'll have to sort out your wiring problems - perhaps by fitting new Cat5 cable for your ADSL extension.

      Re: Sagem Speed Fluctuations

This is from the test socket. I don't have any internal wiring apart from from the front door to the master socket. No extensions anywhere else in the house.

When I took the master socket faceplate off there isn't even any wiring behind it. Looks like something similar to the BT Iplate that's on there that plugs directly into the master.

In which case you need to get onto sky and get it logged as a line fault.

Thanks for that, will give them a call over the weekend.

Sonething strange is happening with Router Stats now. can't get any reading, both plots showing "0". Whilst using the router GUI I'm connected as normal. Have tried installing a number of times but just the same.

Getting an error on startup saying can't create "/RouterStatsLite.chm"

Now getting an error " is not a valid integer. Anyone any ideas what's going on with Routet Stats? Would like to be able to run it to give Sky some evidence.

      Re: Sagem Speed Fluctuations

Update on this one. Contacted Sky CS over the weekend and the (foreign) rep says that there was a problem with my line and he had fixed it. I asked him what he had done to fix it and all he would tell me was that I was now connected at the fastest speed possible.

After checking the router stats again I am now connected at 8Mbps with the same noise and atten figures. Ping is now a bit higher (80ms) on tests. This was looking pretty stable until this morning when I got up. Router was now synced at 6Mps and noise back up to 16dB. Rebooted and I'm back to 8Mbps and 7dB noise. So looks like the issue is still there. Am running Router stats again to see whats going on.

      Re: Sagem Speed Fluctuations

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me with router stats lite. I've tried re-installing numerous times but I can't get it to work. The trace will just drop to 0 and am getting read timeout errors.

is your phone line silent? if you ring 1571 or whatever can you hear any noise at all? mine was doing something similar to yours and i had an intermittent crackle on the line. At the time i was on AOL and they said nothing to do with us (which i guess it wasnt to be fair) and BT said nothing wrong with it but after a month of nagging they said there was a fault and they fixed it pretty quick.

17070 and do the quiet line test if you want to check noise on the line. Of course if you have any noise then you just need to report it to sky who should book BT out to sort it.
