"The wireless network security key is not correct"
That's the message I receive when i try to connect wirelessly.

      Except it is correct!
In fact, there's someone else using that same security key to access via wi-fi, and they're sat about 6 feet away from me!

It was working fine yesterday, but won't let me in today.

Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to resolve it would be gratefully received.

      Many thanks

      Greg

Without trying to sound patronizing, are you entering it in uppercase?

Have you checked you are trying to connect to the correct network? It is possible your machine is picking up a different network. Check the SSID is correct, if it is delete all the networks you can see and rescan. Then make sure you select the correct SSID then try to connect.

      Thanks for your replies.

The key has been entered as both upper and lower case today, but to no avail.
It it the same key as was working yesterday.

Yes, I have been trying to connect to the correct SSID, as it still has it's original Sky name.

What Operating system are you using?
      Have you rebooted the router?

Re: "The wireless network security key is not correct"

      New error message!

"This network is marked as a hidden network and is either not in range of this computer or the wireless settings saved on this computer do not match the settings of the network"

The settings are the same as they were when it worked yesterday and the router is about a metre away from me!

Re: "The wireless network security key is not correct"

I'm on Vista and I've already rebooted the router.

Another user in the same room as me is also on Vista and having no connections problems.

Re: "The wireless network security key is not correct"

Ok have you deleted the wireless network and then tried reconnecting?

Network and Sharing Centre - Manage Wireless Networks - Select the network - Click "Remove"

Try readding it manually using the "Add" from there and Manually Create a network profile - "Network Name" is the SSID on the bottom of your router. "Security Type" is "WPA-Personal"

Re: "The wireless network security key is not correct"

Go into the wireless settings and check that Allow broadcast name is ticked. If Wireless isolation is ticked, untick it. It should not make any difference, but you never know. Also check that the Wireless Station Access List is not enabled. If this still does not help, try changing the network key in the router, try to connect using the changed key. If that fails try turning off the router security temporarily, see if you can then make a connection.
