      New Sky Broadband Packages

      Hiya All,
Just had a phone call from a mate who's been with sky BB for years, he's on the 2Mb speed with 2Gb per month download, he not use the internet very much. Any way he had a call today from sky telling him that the package he's been on is being phased out and he has to sign up for the up to 20Mb bundle with Sky TV and Sky phone, he told the person he's not interested in the sky phone and doesn't want it, only to be told that he has to have it as the phone is in all the bundles now. So he said that he can no longer have sky TV and Sky BB then?? He was told NO.
Any1 know if this is correct please
      cheers
      Paul

      Utter rubbish.
The 2Mb/2Gb free broadband (5/month with no Sky Talk) is replaced with an up to 20Mb/2Gb package at the same cost.
The Everyday package has been withdrawn.
The unlimited package is 12.50/ month or 7.50/month with Sky Talk.

Check it out on the Sky site.

Sky Broadband – Broadband and Wireless Offers – Buy Online

Basically the package he is on is being renamed to Everday Lite which will have up to 20MB speed with a 2GB monthly limit for 5. He doesn't have to take Sky Talk but if he did the broadband would be free, he must have a TV package though.

      Re: New Sky Broadband Packages

The call he received was likely from sky's outbound campaign devoted to upgrading existing everyday customers. Unless I'm misinformed, I wasn't aware that base customers would be called, however. As said, the base package is now referred to as 'everyday lite' and has no change in billing or usage (2gb) - the only change is that we can now configure the line to 20480/1312 if it can handle it, rather than 2048/416.

Ok Thank you all for the replies, I tho it was a bit odd but alas these days 1 never knows. With the up to 20Mb will this be done automatic or have you got to contact CST?? As I can see my mate going panicking if he saw the speed going up?

As far as I know everyone will be moved onto the new packages eventually so it will happen automatically at some point.

      Re: New Sky Broadband Packages

I'm currently on the old mid/everyday sky bb package
When will it become totally defunct and will I automatically move to the ultimate package or will I get a phone call or letter first?

I often go upto/over my current 10Gb limit but i've never had a warning letter. When I do upgrade to ultimate, will it start the whole line test etc again as i've only just managed to get it manually configured and my ping dropped (gaming profile) following moving over to pay my line rental to sky? or will my line just stay configured as it is?

      I'm hoping the latter

      Re: New Sky Broadband Packages

If your package is being upgraded you will definitely be put on DLM again, whether your line is capable of more or not. Many of those on the Unlimited package who already have their maximum speed are also being put back on DLM, much to their annoyance.
