Really bad intermittent connection and the worst downstream connection ever !!

Please can someone help, this driving me crazy. I have now had this problem for over 3 months, ive called numerous times to sky but still have same problem. I have been through the normal help things with Sky, also my home is a new build and there seems to be no determined master socket with a test socket on it. I have 4 telephone points in the house but none have the test socket or not got any marking on them i.e T symbol.

I get online for about 2/3 hours so times more but the connection drops out and does the orange light/reboot then 2 solid green lights. Checked on the router homepage on sky router and noticed the downstream connection gets no higher that 540kbps, currently im on 160kbps.

Currently Sky are sending me a new router to try and solve problem but im holding out no hope.

      Any help will be apprecited

      Thanks

Any noise on the landline? I assume you've got through to CST if you're being sent a replacement router, but just to make sure - you've unplugged all sockets and plugged a swapped filter directly into the master socket with just the short grey dsl cable? Can probably bet my money that you're looking for an openreach visit as I doubt the router is at fault.

Loads of noise on the landline, can hear the modem trying to connect when your on a call. Cant find a master socket in the house, none with a split bottom part. The socket closest to front door has had faceplate removed and no master socket inside either.

Seems as though the internet comes back on sometimes when your on a call too

If you unplug the router's dsl cable from the filter, does the noise disappear?

Unfortunately, it's harder to diagnose when there's no nte5 master in the premises. You'll receive new cables, router, filters etc. with the new cpe - ensure you change over all the equipment, especially dsl cable and router. If you're still looking at the same stats/fault then get back onto sky and they'll get an engineer out this time I assume.

Re: Really bad intermittent connection and the worst downstream connection ever !!

It depends on the length & quality of the line from the exchange. Sky get rather conservative figures on what lines can handle usually. Hopefully your attenuation possibly decreases a little when the fault is resolved and the noise disappears, then you may be looking at more than 3mbps once the line is uncapped and all is well.

They reckon im 6.5km away from the exchange which hampers my speeds too. Hopefully they can do something.
