will I get online with PC bought in 1999 for broadband???

I was able to use Telewest broadband via my D Link connection using a network card & Windows 98 where I used to live.

I tried Tiscali but it did not work due to not having a USB port connection and only windows 98 first edition.

Line due to be activated wednesday.

Self installed it already and waiting for internet light.

How do I go about this if windows 98 is not compatable?

      Cost?

Wanting some kind of connection just for browsing as this wanadoo dial up is so slowwwwwwww and I do miss being in a telewest area.

What chance I will be online via sky broadband on wednesday do I have, with these details I have revealed?
Will buy new computer soon once finances improve.

As long as your netword card is installed (which it sounds like it is) you should get on no problem.

As for guarantee of wednesday connection, there is none. Hopefully you will, but there has been a lot of people stating they have been delayed for a few days.

      Fingers crossed.

As for the new PC - buy that when you can

as long as your nic is installed all you have to do is hook it all up and make sure 98 is set to use the lan, you do not need to use any of the software provided as its not 98 compatible .

make sure under lan settings its set to automatic obtain and in your lan connection properties under tcp ip auto retreive dns and auto retrieve ip.

cant remember where these are exact in 98 but shud be sort of same.

I am online at high speed on schedule. Thank god I only paid 40 and no more.

Thanks for your help and also despite having an ancient PC. I do have a 30" LCD TV with a pc connection.

How do I get wireless in another room and a nother mouse to use?
