Awful Speeds and Timeouts all over the place

Long story short Switched from Virgin 50mb BB to Sky connect 8mb because of the hefty difference in price

Had no problems with Sky until now ( Have Sky+ HD etc.)

Sky connect was activated between 7-10th june and Plugged it in with it connecting first time via ethernet then switching it to wireless

Decided to run a speedtest and got about 6mb's which is not a problem

Im a gamer so I Run apps Like teamspeak and a few Low bandwidth using games

I run the game and instantly timeout. So I run another Speedtest and have been getting roughly these kind of speeds for about 2-3 days now.

Here are the stats my router is giving me.

Just want to know if there is a general problem or is there a way I can improve this

Note: Router is downstairs and is connected to the Master socket via Microfilter

      Stats:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 35.0 db 20.0 db
Noise Margin 8.3 db 22.0 db

-This is my first time on ADSL BB so have No idea what this new stuff means after years of learning the cable side of broadband

      Thanks, Adam

Edit: Its contantly at this speed for 24 hours a day, If thats throttling then sky will be getting another customer going back to Virgin Media

Sky connect is throttled severely over peak time. Theres nothing you can do other than change ISP. It's a BT supplied service and SKY dont want to pay BT more for the additional bandwidth that would be required to not throttle.

If it's like that all day, and not just at peak times, then there's something not right. First off, if you're connecting wirelessly then connect up an ethernet cable and re-run a speed test. If you're still getting bad throughput, then run a speed test at Test Result and paste the results you get. The username it asks for is the MAC address found on the bottom of the router with @skydsl after i.e. 004848F98B@skydsl

Edit: Also, you'll still be running on connect's DLM at the moment.

Was the same kind of speeds with E-net cable.

Test shows I should Expect anywhere Between 600-8000kbps

Im just gonna assume this is DLM and leave it for a while, will repost in a few days

      Thanks for the Info

Re: Awful Speeds and Timeouts all over the place

Just get out now, Sky Connect is less than useless for gaming and just about anything else, even if you do find another problem that you can cure, this will not improve your gaming experience, Connect is way over capacity and the peak hours seem to be starting to get longer!!!.

If you can only get ISP's that use the BT network then try Plusents gaming package.

Also check to see if O2 have their LLU equipment in the exchange, this would be better than using the BT setup.
