I think you'll find if you leave the router plugged in and just wait for the profile update you'll have the 5mb. To be fair to them they have replaced the entire line and line problems are fairly rare getting BT to admit a fault is a network wide problem that many people across the country experience. It's simply a case of pushing your point until they sort it out and I dont see line problems being any different on other ISPs they all have to "convince" BT to sort it out.

"Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that it is VERY UNLIKELY you will be able to receive fixed 512Kbps or 256Kbps broadband service due to the very long length of your telephone line. However, your order will be accepted if you still wish to order. An engineer may need to visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

Our initial test on your line indicates that your line may not support a reliable ADSL Max broadband service, with current technology. However, an order for 250Kbps broadband speed will still be accepted, but an engineer may need to visit who will, where possible, supply the service".

"Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 4.5Mbps".

You just need to let BT's system update as you are currently achieving 5mb sync on your old router. Once the system updates that checker should go back to giving the correct info.
If I was in your position I would either just use the old router or request that SKY send you out a new one to replace the poorly performing sagem they sent.

      Re: Sky and BT HELL!

I'll wait with the new one until I get a call back on Saturday morning. I'd then give it until mid-next week to see if there's still problems which will rule out the old and new router. After this they'll have to escalate it again and see what another openreach engineer says......and we all go round again!!!

Steve, whilst sky connect is managed horribly, there are other issues that customers do face apart from the shaping. The OP's probably looking at a FTR breach - I assume that's why numerous SFIs and replacement routers have been sent. Shaping is not the issue here.

To the OP - looks like the sagem you have is faulty. The stats are much better with the old netgear router connected. Personally, I'd suggest to keep that plugged in for the next 72 hours and then run the following speed test - Test Result and see how the rates look.

      What's an OP?

      What's an FTR breach?

      What's an SFI?
