      Re: Sky change over.

Hi again, just recieved an email:
Thanks for choosing Sky Broadband Unlimited. Your order is being processed and you should be connected by the end of the day on Friday, June 18th 2010.

Your Sky Unlimited at 12.50 a month offers you a maximum download speed of up to 20MB and we estimate that the maximum download speed your line could support is 18.5MB. Your monthly usage allowance is unlimited.Once your line is active, please leave your Sky Wireless router turned on for the first 10 days so we can test these speeds.

Really happy with the speed estimate.
But why 12.50 a month? do I save else where on the bill? and I asked for it to be active by the 12th?
Hope I don't have to pay bt another month of 22.50!
      Anybody got any ideas?
Another thing, does anybody know how to transfer all my emails from the bt account my new sky one?
      Thanks.

If you take any of the Sky Talk packages you will get a 5.00 discount. This is usually shown as a discount on your TV package.

What email client are you using? In most cases you will simply set up your Sky Email in the client(Outlook, Thunderbird etc) as an additional account. Your BT account will remain open, I think BT allow 90 days, but it may be open indefinitely, advise all your contacts that you are using a new email address. Although you will be able to receive mail through BT you will not be able to send, this has to be done through Sky.

To get ready for your new connection, have a read of the stickies in the Cable and Faceplate part of the forum. ADSL2+ requires a 'cleaner' line than BT's ADSLMax so you should do everything you can to improve your wiring. Fitting and using a filtered faceplate is a good start.

Well no ISDN faceplates wont work for DSL, I personally recommend the ADSLNation XTE-2005 and have installed it at numerous properties with good results

      One faceplate ordered!
Much cheaper than the one I was looking at, which was nearly 20!

      Many thanks.

      Just to add.
I enquired about this a few weeks back, and spoke to a nice irish chap. Who informed me I should get much higher speeds as I am still using the homehub v1.
      Broadband connection details:
      Downstream 3,744 Kbps
      Upstream 448 Kbps
      Connection time 4 days, 16:14:03

      560m from exchange.

I have skytalk so should get it for 7.50 as well, much better than 22.50.
Just followed the How to test your Master Socket tutorial, and it came up with these stats:

      Broadband connection details:
      Downstream 7,232 Kbps
      Upstream 448 Kbps
      Connection time 0 days, 0:00:27

I think its time to lose those extensions!

Why is the download so slow?

      Re: Sky change over.

Why is the download so slow?
With BT's ADSLMax it can take up to 3 days for your Profile to rise. Although your sync speed is higher your line has to stay stable for a period before you will see any benefit. The Profile governs your actual speed.
Try a speed test on the Official BT Performance Tester and that will show you what your present Profile is. Reboot your router at least once a day to force a resync with the exchange.

      Test Result

Remember if you move your router from the Test socket, your speed will go down again.

      Re: Sky change over.

Activation day and just got the Sagem router setup:

      Router Statistics

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 28.5 db 13.1 db
Noise Margin 15.5 db 24.5 db

On MySky page doesn't say that DLM is running.

Any ideas on what speed could be achieved?
      Says 10 - 20MB on MySky.
