      telephone filter on PC?

Just curious to know, is there a way to "detect" people calling your landline number on the computer? I mean, is there some software or another way to find this without actually having a handset connected to the ADSL Filter?

Caller display is a feature you request, it has nothing to do with adding a filter to the telephone line. As far as I'm aware you have to call sky and ask them to enable caller display.

sure, but i mean on the computer itself.... to see who is calling you (the number) if any, if you don't have a handset?

You can get software which will do this, but it is quite expensive for what you want. You are cheaper buying a handset.
      Download PC-Telephone - Shareware Software - Tucows

thanks but none of these seems to work the way I thought?

basically, I have my SKY Router. this is connected to the ADSL Filter which is plugged into the phone line.

when someone calls, whoever, I want my PC to tell me.
      possible?

Abit of a case of over engineering the wheel as you might aswell just use a telephone with caller id.

but you could if you really wanted connect your computer to the phone line but you would
need a old dial up modem fitted to the pc and of course keep the pc connected by cable to
      the phone line

Well, three people have suggested ways to do it! The ADSL input to your PC is flitered, so there is no way of passing caller ID with the signal. You have to intercept it from the voice signal. If you don't have an internal modem, you can get small caller-ID boxes that plug into a standard phone line - I have one near my PC so I can see who's calling without having to look at the phone.
