upgraded to 20mb, now speed is terrible

Hi all, I was upgraded to 20mb unlimited package, the line test started on 28/5 had unstable on/off connection for ages, now it's stable, the last couple of days my speed has been uber slow.
      I had a nice stable 8mbps before now it's down to 3.
Should I be on the phone to sky just yet?

From the stats, your line should be able to push out anywhere around 16-20mbps. It does look like you're simply capped, but there's probably more to it if you've been experiencing such an unstable connection during DLM. Plug into the test socket and re-take the stats.

Last week or so the router has been doing what looked like a reboot, I assumed it was just the testing, now it's not rebooting at all, but speed is slow, I'll try and rig up to master socket tomorrow, now wishing bt had put it somewhere handy!

Are we to guess you are on an extension lead or socket? If you are using wifi then get the router on the main socket, best place for it.

Yes, on a bt installed socket extension, approx 1.5 metres from main socket.

You'll probably find that's causing noise issues. As Paul said, get the router directly into the master socket and then connect wirelessly if you can.

dont forget to call sky and get the cap removed if you plan to leave the router in the master socket

Re: upgraded to 20mb, now speed is terrible

After a call to the VERY helpful sky broadband tech peeps I've now got a sensible stable connection, seriously they were very helpful indeed. Gold stars all round to them imho.

They basically upped my speed manually to allow me to try and see how i get on.

Re: upgraded to 20mb, now speed is terrible

You can get more if your noise margin stays stable through the day, keep an eye on it at peak times and if it stays above 7 give them another call as your line can take more.
