      Exclamation Sky Router keeps on cutting out

      I been having this problem for about a week now and Sky is really making me upset because they keep on putting me through the same steps. I thought i would turn to the very trusty community of SkyUser.

      My Current Set-up(this is from the Master Socket)
      Master Socket (ADSL Nation XTE-2005 Faceplate. Just been installed a month ago)
      ADSL Cable from the Master Socket to the Sky Netgear Router V2
      Router is then pluged in to a Netgear Gigabyte Switch splits between one computer and a Netgear Wireless mass
      From the switch it goes to a different switch which is still the same make and model (just so their so no confusion i have to of these switchs) this goes to my sons computer and Xbox 360


      There is 2 phone sockets in the house, the router is indeed plugged into the Master socket. both of these sockets are filtered.

      on the Internet symbol ( "@" symbol) this sometimes goes to Amber. its very rarely on Green, always flashing, it flash's slow and fast just to depends on what mood it is in. My son is what you call a hardcore gamer when he comes home from school he goes on his xbox to chat to friends for a little bit comes in from being out and goes on the xbox he doesn't get off until about midnight. He always complains to me that the internet is going very slow and we should switch but i want to get this issue fixed before i start thinking about switching.

      When you mentioned that both sockets are filtered, I assume you're just referring to the fact that the filtered faceplate is present and you don't literally have filters connected into the tel sockets?

      Any noise on the landline at all?

      The adsl cable; is it an extension rj11 cable?

      Have you tried plugging into the test socket and monitoring if the internet light drops from there?

      what i mean is the downstairs is being filtered by a Micro filter and the upstairs socket which is the Master Socket has a Pre-Filter on it.
      there isnt any noise on the line.
      yes i have plugged it in the test socket many times it still dies on me
      and this Rj11 extension cable i am not sure what you mean by this. is RJ11 cable just the plug goes from the socket to the router,all i know is it is a ADSL Cable

      is the adsl cable the one provided by sky(short grey one) or have you extended it?

      i get you now.I had bought a new one since the cable provided from Sky wasn't long enough. i don't really understand the terminology of these cables all i know is this. it plugs into the Faceplate where it says ADSL and goes straight into the back of the router. and it works

      it is quite likely to be the problem, there is a reason sky's wasnt long enough. if it worked you wouldnt be posting here

      But i don't really understand what you mean. Are you meaning Having a longer cable (approx 3-4metres) is affecting the internet speed and making it cut out. and these cut outs are lasting to long.

      UPDATED:
      The Cable i am using RJ11 is a Silver Plated cable much better then the one you get in the box

      yes newton that is exactly what i mean, some people suggest that a high quality RJ11 is ok but myself i would use skys orginial adsl cable to the router and run an extended cat5 ethernet cable from there. sky certainly aren't going to take any interest whilst your using an extension.
