The router should not effect DLM as it is the line/exchange equipment which is being trained. However we always recommend that the Sky router be used during the training period, as using a different router can complicate things if anything should go wrong and you have to phone support. There are several million quite happily using Sky's 'crap' routers.

Yeah, The routers aren't that bad but they can be a hassle sometimes, I sometimes have problems receiving a wireless signal around the house but what I usually have to do is change my channel and then I get a perfect signal.

My testing showed that Sky routers sync around 5% ~ 10% lower than a half-decent modern router like a Netgear DGN2000.

My DGND3300 + DMT connects at around 4Mbit/sec higher than the supplied Sagem, and has been connected now for 26 hours straight with next to no errors and zero disconnects / resyncs.

I do think it is time for Sky to move it's routers on with the times - after all their TV equiptment is bleeding edge. Atleast giving an option for an N router would make sense.

The DGN2000 would be a very good router and equally with the times now as the DG834GT was when they used to bundle that with their broadband...

Even TalkTalk and BT Retail have been offering N routers with their top package for some time now. But hey, each to their own. I don't mind what they supply as I prefer to choose my own router but others will feel much more comfortable sticking to Sky's T&C which, can be a bit obtuse (the T&C that is) given such outmoded routers are supplied...

Just my two cents. Each to their own
