      Further router update?

Seen a thread in thinkbroadband Sky forum indicating that a guy had found his Sagem had been updated recently by some SKY originated event to V2.6 He says he now has WPA2 enabled.

Is he on catchup that others have had - or is this a new on this router - and what of the others of us on the older DG variety?

      Cheers

It will be the new FW update that is due to be rolled out. A fair few issues have been sorted I believe, although no official list so to speak of.

OK - well looks like some have escaped or the roll-out has started - but to my second query - just Sagem versions do you think, it would be helpful for those few folk who use alternative routers ;-))

      Re: Further router update?

The only FW update that I know of is the Sagem one, which it appears has already started - But that doesn't rule out any of the Netgear ones. It's just that no one has tipped us off so far.

I do know however (numerous unofficial sources) that there is potentially a completely different brand / manufacturer of a Sky router coming at a later date. However we have no details to post as at yet.

Thanks for the info newsreader - I guess it may be linked to other services in the offing, particularly once folk have been moved to the unlimited contracts....
Interesting days to come - if the economy holds up!

Obviously nothing wrong with Sky's economy, they have just posted record results. VOD and PDL is certainly on it's way.

OP if you haven't already you might want to read this Sagem Firmware 2.6 upgrade? thread.

The latest firmware for the standard Netgear DG834GT now supports WPA2 so I guess in the fullness of time the Sky version will also get the upgrade.

Netgear brought that update out last Autumn so I geuss Sky would be bringing out sooner or later as my non Sky one has been running it for months
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

I would imagine this ties in with their recent change of exchange equipment to Alcatel kit; the same make that Be* Unlimited / O2 use.

I would imagine if anyone is going to be making new routers for Sky it'll be Thomson, a wholly owned arm of Alcatel. This should reap the best compatibility, stability, and most importantly, speeds, from Sky's new SVPN equipment.
