Google Sync - Sky Mail, Calendar & Contacts

In order to get ActiveSync to sync your Sky Mail, Calendar and Contacts with yuor Windows Mobile device (or Nokia and iPhone for that matter), Google Sync needs to be activated by the Sky Administrator.

I have called Sky 8 times today, each time getting through to India, and they did not have a clue what i was on about. I even gave them the URL for the google support page detailing what needs to be done (Enable Google Sync via ActiveSync - Google Apps Help)

Is there anyone on here from UK technical support who can tell me if Sky will enable the Sync function? I can't face calling them again and repeating this request again and again and again. And i'm bald as it is so i have no hair to rip out

Re: Google Sync - Sky Mail, Calendar & Contacts

sky broadband tech support have access to a program called gtools which will resync the username and password and then you would go to sky.com/unlock on a pc and type in your username, password and some verifiction characters. also there have been problems with the sky calendar recently, not too sure if they have been resolved or not. hope this helps

edit: actually if you go to sky.com/unlock and try and type your username(without the @sky.com) and your password and it says the username or password is incorrect BUT you can successfully log in to mysky etc on the sky website then they definately need to resync your username and password. just hopefully you get through to somebody who knows what to do!

Sky can google sync your username and password. Your best bet is to try and ring late in the evening/night and hope you get through to someone in a UK call centre.

Just explain to the advisor you keep getting a pop up window in your email client program requesting you to confirm your username and password. Also, explain to them that you have tried the www.sky.com/unlock website and it says 'username and password do not match' whenever you try it.

Hopefully they should then know what to do.

Guys thanks for the reply, but my ID and Password are fine. Thats not the issue. What i'm wanting to do is sync my Sky Mail, Calendar and Contacts with my mobile phone.

In order to get this working, Sky need to enable the Google Sync function in the Google Dashboard.

I know it's maybe a long shot asking them to do this but it's worth a try. Thing is, when i try to explain this to the Indian guys, i'd be aswell speaking to a brick wall!

Cheers for the info mate. I'm will try calling them again today and see if i can get a UK agent.

As i said above, it's probably a long shot for them to enable it, but it's worth a try asking.

Re: Google Sync - Sky Mail, Calendar & Contacts

I'd say so, yes - Sky don't offer everything as Google do as it's a basic email service. If you can get to CST and try and find someone who know's what you're on about you might be in luck.

I'll ask some of my old work mates, see if they can help...
