Do Routers grow old and tired like the rest of us ? My wireless speeds are deteriorating and I was wondering whether a router loses performance and degrades with age, mine's an early Netgear 834,or do they just pack up completely ?

      No they should not deteriorate.
Its possible that a lot more people in your immediate locality now have wireless routers. They may be interfering with yours causing your range/performance issues.
You might try changing the wireless channel to see if that works better.
