      poor speed poor customer service

      hi
i am into the second year of having my sky unlimited broadband and in the last few weeks i have noticed speeds have dropped to 3.5mbps
      i used to get 5.5

changed all the filters and using the master socket

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4091 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 43 db 24 db
Noise Margin 15 db 15 db

spoke to a very unhelpful lady at sky customer service today and she told me to change my antivirus and stop using certain programs on my pcs

is there anything else i can try ?

your line is capped at 4mb at the moment, call sky with your router directly in the test socket if possible and explain you want the line to be reconfigured manually

Whoever suggested your line couldn't handle more should not be working tech support.

08442410515 is for tech support where you got through to previously. It's really luck of the draw whether you get through to someone who knows who they are talking about - I guess like all walks of life. You should eventually be passed through to the customer solutions team who can reconfigure your line and uncap you from 4096/800. My guess is your line could handle around 6144/992 on g.dmt - jobs a good one.

Hi the thing is I still think you could get some more around 8000kbps. have a look at Sky router stats (speed, noise, attenuation) explained the figures used are for a perfect line with no noise on the line but good to use as an estimate

The speeds are quite high for the attenuations in that chart, in my experience.

Hi that is why I only said around 8000kbps I think emu123 could push about 8500kbps
