Not as good as the Sky routers unfortunately - it's fine though!

Just keep an eye out and see if the lights go out when you lose connection

Re: Does Sky break connection if you use more than xGB during the day?

I'm not really with you on that... It's better and more full featured than the sky sagem one I had before, thats for sure, lasted 12 months 1 week... Maybe not as good as the sky netgear one (I think it was before) which lasted a couple of years plus and never gave me any gyp till it died.

Thanks for trying to troubleshoot for me though, I'm very grateful for that. Perhaps the router is faulty, if I have to get another one I suppose 24 quid won't break the bank, just a shame...

I meant the stats - Sky's has full connection stats for WAN, LAN and WLAN

      Not the routers capability

      Ah, my mistake IWNTE...

No Tom, I am not using wireless on the machine. We do use the wireless facility around the house at different times, but when this happens its me alone in the house using a hardwired connection.

      Thanks all...

Re: Does Sky break connection if you use more than xGB during the day?

Hi again. In case you are still interested, I got a sky router (sagem boo) to test the issue and it seems that it is an attack which is causing my computer to repeatedly reset the connection...

Here is the log. If you have any thoughts I'd be most glad to hear them!

      Thanks!

I don't think it is the attempted intrusions which are causing your problem. Just a couple of young chinks running a scanning tool looking for open ports, there are not nearly enough attempts to cause your router a problem..

If your connection is dropping with 2 different routers, I would suspect a line fault.

Re: Does Sky break connection if you use more than xGB during the day?

I figured that if the router has too many hack attempts inbound then it drops the line to change the wan IP of the user being attacked so the hackers would have to try either the next router on that IP or find the user they were after... I don't know, it's not my field of expertise...

I guess I can have my line checked, but I think I know what sky will say, because they said it was fine before... This seems to be a recurring reply on this thread though, so perhaps there is a problem with the line that sky can't find, or there is a problem inside my house that I can't find. Either way it has only shown its head when I have been downloading large files which is no doubt coincidental, but equally annoying...
