they seem to already "sell" it as a product with a proper contract. Of course, depending on which area you live in but is this not a little premature? I mean, surely they would have tested/rolled out the product before selling it?

What makes you think they haven't been testing it for the last year or so?

maybe because I have been out of the loop my friend? But also because of various things ive been reading. Furthermore its not entirely rolled out everywhere

But surely sky would have had something concrete already by now? yes, i did sign up to their trial system but if BT are selling it already and not fully rolled out - what about sky?

Re: Optic Fibre "BT Infinity" information

depends on what Sky is doing, if they are just selling a rebadged BT product then they are most likely waiting on more exhanges to go live also we all know how connect is doing and how it's name is mud at the moment and Sky may be doing a wait and see on demand.

It may be though that Sky are trying a LLU version where they use the fibre to the exchange and then that goes into their own kit, now that would need testing and getting right.

That is not strange, ISPs did not wait till every exchange was enabled before they started selling the exchanges that were. Tests for FTTC were run in a few exchanges scattered across the country. Milton Keynes is one of the first areas where BT are to trial 100Mb broadband using FTTP. This has been available to large businesses, colleges etc, for some time now, but this is the first time it is being done on an exchange basis.

FTTC - Fibre to the (street)Cabinet
FTTP - Fibre to the Premises.
