Broadband Issue and Phone as Well

I'm hoping someone can help me on this. I have been getting serious connection issues over the last 4 weeks in terms of very slow page refresh times on pages and also a high pitch noise on the phone.

If I keep clicking refresh on internet explorer eventually the page will refresh otherwise it just hangs. I thought it might be software related so I tried using different web browsers and also disabled Virus and firewall settings but to no avail. I am also occasionally getting on the xbox 'Didn't have the correct MTU setting' (or words to that affect).

I called Sky and they tested the line and said all was fine with a connection speed of 10.5mb. They said the phone issue could be related to a dodgy line filter and if the problem occured whilst the internet was in use then turning the router off would show whether the filter was faulty or not. Unfortunately turning the intenet off didn't work and the high pitch noise remained. If I then hang up and redial the phone is fine.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as basically the internet is unusable across 3 PC's both wired and wireless and I am beginning to lose faith in Sky's ability to resolve the issue.

If you remove everything bar a single, wired phone and check the line is the noise still there? If so, it's not a Sky issue but a line issue and you'd have to get onto your provider

To be certain don't just turn it off, unplug the router from the phone line.
