If that's the case, I assume you're on the sky voice and broadband network. Confirm with them if you're on SVBN - you'll probably be eventually passed to their customer solutions team.

well they configured the line to 20MB and its sync'ing at 11.3 with an upstream of 1.1MB which is good.

they said its probably to do with the distance of the exchange (3KM away) but were surprised I was even getting this speed!
But doesnt make sense how I was able to get 14/13.5MB before

Lost speed with move to SVBN

Might be worth while reading that thread, as it may be that you've lost the speed after being moved over to svbn. Obviously that thread will collate simply problems that people have had and that the majority more than likely don't have any speed issues since being moved.

If you are fussed about the speed loss, then I reckon it'd still be worth trying another router and dsl cable if you trace one off a family member etc. just to test it out. It could be down to the line possibly degrading also, which there's nothing that can really be done.

funny you should mention SVBN - I did get transferred to that. I remember having a letter about this 1.5 months ago or around that time.

      Re: Speed is slowing

Once you are on Skys own network hardware I don't think that you can be moved back. It's one of the reasons why I refuse to take Sky talk line rental.

      Re: Speed is slowing

Yeah, you'd need to get BT to take it back, which would be around 100...another way to check if you're on SVBN is to call your landline and let it go to 1571, if it says 'Welcome to the Sky voicemail service' then you're on the SVBN, if not you're still on BT but the way they said they can only set to 10Mbps, 16Mbps, etc would suggest SVBN as LAMA is different and you get set profiles as opposed to doing what you want on a vanilla LLU

      Re: Speed is slowing

well thing is, I didnt know about this. Reason I choice eventually sky talk was because it was going to work out cheaper than a BT line rental, thats why.....and had no idea it would have this affect!

how odd. but still doesnt make sense why it should affect anything??

well I rang them about the SVBN and they said that you cannot revert back to it but the only way would be to cancel your package and resubscribe! :-/

      Re: Speed is slowing

Or move back to BT as I said...if you cancelled and resubscribed it would disconnect the line and you'd still have to pay BT to reconnect you
