    Speed is slowing

      I assume for the fact you were talking to someone about errors on the line, that you were through to sky's customer solutions team? If so, and your ticket is still open, if you get in contact with them again that they'll probably send you a new router out if you still are using the phase 1 from 2007. Only downside to that is that you'll be charged 28 as it's out of warranty.

      If you could get hold of a spare router and if possible a short adsl cable also, then at least you could rule that out.

      thanks for that. wouldnt understand why they would charge existing customers..... :-/
      ticket is open, they are apperently re-running DLM again and she said that if there is still a problem they will get a BT engineer out to check the line.

      makes no sense really, she also did not seem to know what she was talking about either. delays in giving answers

      Just like tier 1, or any walk of life, CST have some clueless agents also. DLM will do absolutely nothing for your sync speed looking at the current stats. If anything, it'll possibly change a few settings on the line and make the sync speed slightly lower. Sky used to send out replacement routers free but from near the start of this year, this was changed unfortunately.

      Personally, if I were you, if you have any mates also on sky, then if you can borrow their router and check what speeds/SNRs etc. you get on that. If there's a difference, then it's obviously the router and you can get sky to send you one out. If there's no difference, then call sky up and hopefully you'll get through to someone who will see that DLM being re-run is pointless. Let them know that you've got a spare router to hand and it hasn't improved the stats at all and this will probably lead to an openreach visit to investigate the fault further.

      yeh, sadly i dont know anyone who has sky BB im afraid.

      just doesnt make sense why its been decreasing pretty quick in a matter of weeks

      I take it all's well on the landline? i.e. There's no audible noise whilst the phone is in use?

      ok.... speaking to someone on tier 1 i believe. she has taken dlm off and is configuring the line. she set it to 16MB....but synched at 11.3MB.
      now she has reconfigured it to 10MB and on hold as she is going to do something on a different system.....

      she said that there is no option apperently to tell it to sync to 14MB but only either 10MB or 16MB.....

      I am going to suggest maybe a router swap. I do have another router bridged to this one but this would make no difference. ive tried with and without it.
