cannot connect wirelessly with my dongle

hi,i've rebooted my laptop after it crashed and it's working fine with my ethernet cable in, but when i try to connect with my usb dongle it usually brings up a window saying "windows cannot configure this connection " although twice now it has connected only to then show a window that says there is an error.my dongle is fine (lights on) my router (DG934G) is all lit up.i have noticed the couple of times it connected there were no other "wireless networks in range" on show, but usually there is a list of three others apart from the one i use which is sky.could these others be stopping me from connecting.also, it goes from "aquiring network address! to "connected" to "disconnected" simultaneously.
i have windows xp.any advice welcome thanks.

Re: cannot connect wirelessly with my dongle

Check what channel the router wireless is on using the ethernet connection, it could be that someone nearby is impacting your signal. use a tool like netstumbler to see what is around you and change to a channel not in use, I moved my router to 13 to keep away from people that just didn't bother looking before adjusting their own wireless.
