Arrow Sky Extension 15 Metre ADSL Or Ethernet Cable ? Which Ones batter ?

Ok at the moment I have a 15 metre RJ11 ADSL cable coming from my BT box which is downstairs into my SKY Router which is upstairs next to my PC Desktop and then I have a 2 metre RJ45 Ethernet cable going into the back of my PC.
The thing is would it be batter if I had the Sky Router downstairs and have a 15 metre RJ45 ethernet cable going upstairs instead of the ADSL one ? this way I can just have a 2 metre ADSL cable going into my BT Box ? Will i see any improvement or is it ok the way it is ?

A longer ethernet cable would be much, much better. Extension rj11 cables will usually induce noise and lead to errors on the line, causing intermittency and slowness.

If you are using a high quality twisted pair RJ11 cable, then I doubt if you will see much difference. Having the router sitting beside you can be very useful if you have problems and unless you use a switch, you only have one port available.

It really depends on the cable quality & environment. We have done hundreds of installs & tests, as above if using good quality (& ignore shielded-POINTLESS) twisted pair cable then the difference from the test socket to where you really want the router will be next to nothing (if anything at all!). You can also have a telephone where the router is then as well. If the cable is flat non twisted type this CAN affect things, best way to find out is compare stats from test socket to the extension.

a twisted cable will probably have no signal loss, my cable from adslnation has no affect on the sync speed at all and I think is 5 metres long.

A normal plain cable however will have signal loss.
