      Speed Down

      Hi Guys,

Been with sky BB for over a year now and have been happy with speeds, previously a consistent 11meg dload and 640/650 uload. Last week however I noticed a large drop off, down to around 4 or 5 meg. The website said line testing was in progress, but it has now completed as of 28/03/2010, and my speeds are still down compared to before. I've posted my stats below. I would be OK with this if I didn't already know my line can handle much more. Can anyone help?

      Thanks
      Gordon.

      Re: Speed Down

According to those stats your line can't handle more. Do you have a test socket you can take a set of stats from? Can you also explain the physical setup on the line, how many sockets, how many devices plugged into the tel line and also have you recently moved to Sky line rental or been advised of being moved to SVBN?

      Re: Speed Down

Hi, I get the same results in the test socket. I'm still with BT for phone. I have a filtered faceplate, it's and old BT one but it works, the one with phone socket and rj45 for bb. I know the stats look maxed, but I had 11meg for over a year and no-one seems to be able to explain why it's now dropped. Both Sky and BT have said there are no changes to the line........

      Cheers.

      Re: Speed Down

Well something is different, try a new filter and if possible try to borrow a router from anyone you know that is on adsl to see if it could be that. Something has changed significantly on the line, BT won't care about your ADSL as they aren't supplying it so don't worry about what they have said.

      Re: Speed Down

That looks a bit suspicious. It should not be syncing at a higher speed with a noise margin as low as that. This might suggest your router is not performing as it should. Any chance of borrowing one from someone, preferably with Sky broadband, to test your line.
