      Question My Router Stats > Should I get more Speed ???

      Well I used to get over 7000 Kbps when I joined SKY 5 Months ago but then there was the DLM and know my speed is fixed to 5019 kbps it never goes up or down my Router Stats are below based on these can I ring SKY and ask for my Speed to be increased ?


      ----------------------------------Downstream-----------Upstream
      Connection Speed -----5019 kbps ------------796 kbps
      Line Attenuation --------45 db--------------------25 db
      Noise Margin -------------16 db--------------------14 db

      Yes, your line looks capped, try a reboot of the router and if the noise margin stays the same, you need to ring Sky to get them tomanually configure the line, you should see upto 10mb with those stats.

      If you wanted to be sure of your best speed, you could always post the stats again but from the TEST socket.

      It needs uncapped from 5020 and set to g.dmt (assuming it isn't gonna sync over 8mbps). Try the test socket, and see if you get even more noise margin to play with before you call sky to get it uncapped.
