      My amazing stats?

I have been with Sky for over a year now and my connection speed has gone from 10MB to 19MB and sometimes 16MB when my Internet connection has been acting up

But of course I have to say I am very happy :P

I was wondering if and when fiber optic will be installed, I think I would be expecting a large speed increase maybe to 40MB? LOL

Yes well I can only dream

Tell me what you guys think of my stats and how they will effect the new fiber optic lines

Fibre optic to your cab won't do anything for you unless they lay them all the way to your computer.

I think we should point out that in many cases FTTC will greatly increase the speed of the user. FTTC means that the DSLAM is moved closer to the consumer, so the only thing governing the speed is the distance the house is from the cabinet, ie, the copper line. Fibre does not suffer from interference the same as copper, so the effect is like moving the exchange closer to the house. I don't think it is possible to say what the speed increases will be yet, but in somew cases the speed will double. Note that this does not mean if you are getting 20 Mb at the moment you will get 40Mb with FTTC, you would need fibre right into the home for that. The restrictions of ADSL2+ will still apply.

I think it is the coax that is more efficiet than 2wire. I believe Virgin are trialling optic to the house using overhead connections and that they are doing an experiment with 200Mb in Coventry. Pity they did not spend some of their money funding Sports TV instead of practically stealing it from Sky.

I think it's just a matter of time, it's not like BT are just going to stop the upgrades
