That is because it is not the problem, your internal wiring is. Buy fit and use a filtered faceplate. When you have done that phone Sky and ask them to reconfigure your line as you have made improvements to the wiring.

Re: Intermittent connection since christmas, 2 fault calls closed - at my wits end!

thanks for the reply mate but there is nothing wrong with my internal wiring. I'm going striaght from the master socket (which is now brand new) into a new microfiler and to a new router with new wires.

The engineer asked me if I wanted a filtered faceplate but I said no, as the pc is remote to the socket and when this is all sorted I'll be plugging an extension back in, or having a new socket installed nearer the pc.

I'm having a 'tied pair shift' done today and noticed an open reach engineer at our junction box earlier. lets see if that sorts it.

Here: As you can see, I think the earlier results were a bit bogus or what they have done has fixed that issue, but it still doesnt stay on for more than 24 hrs without dropping (to be fair it does seem to stay on lonhger now before dropping)

No they were not bogus, the increase in noise margin from 8dbs in your Master socket to 12 dbs in the Test socket indicate that you are loosing 1-2Mb in sync speed. It also indicates that you are capped at 4608kbps. I think if you left it in the Test socket and phoned Sky, they would be able to configure your line to 6+Mb. Putting the router back where it was would immediately drop your speed. What you do is up to you.

Re: Intermittent connection since christmas, 2 fault calls closed - at my wits end!

thanks for the advice mate, to be honest Im not really arsed about speed, I just want reliability, and the connection still drops regardless of which socket it's in. Seems people seem to be obsessed with how fast your conneciton is.

The voice engineer did say there was some noise on the extension line I have, so I know I have to sort that out at some point.

lets see if a tied pair swap will fix it. I dont think it will, but for some reason Sky are refusing to check and/or replace any of thier own exchange equipment, whcih is branded easynet???
